Miniature Breakfast

Morning everybody.... Already taken your breakfast? Some nutritional experts have long referred to breakfast as the most important meal of the day. Studies have cited that people who skip breakfast are disproportionately likely to have problems with concentration, metabolism, weight, cardiac and health.

So no matter how busy or rush you are, please remember to take your breakfast. And I have prepared a yummy miniature breakfast to increase your appetite. Bon appetit.......

Miniature Breakfast

First attempt

My eggs were a bit over-cooked in my first attempt. Considering it as my first try, I was still happy with the result. Everything was handmade except for the tomato canes and plate.

Second attempt
The second attempt turned out better than I expected. This time, I could control the coloring of the eggs better. And I also added some mushrooms and strawberries. The sausages are made into a heart shape.

So how do you like your breakfast to be serve?

Miniature Cupcakes

Can u guess what I will be doing for my next project? Cupcakes... This time I will be using resin clay to make these mini cupcakes instead of paper clay. I have actually made cupcakes when I first started out crafting. But that was much more bigger.

Miniature cupcakes

These cupcakes measure about 1 cm in diameter. My most best selling ones are the Elmo and Cookie monster cupcakes. I made them into dust plugs, handphone straps or keychains upon customers request.

Though personally, I am not really a cupcake lover. But I simply love making them. There are so many different designs of cupcakes on the Net. That is where I got my inspiration from. Cupcakes made from resin clay gives it a more realistic look as compared to paper clay. Pretty fun making these tiny cupcakes....

These are the cupcakes that I have made for the time being. Still more to come in the near future.

Miniature Indonesian Kueh

This time I decided to try making Indonesian kueh by myself. Indonesian kueh are popular snacks in Indonesia. 'Kueh' is Indonesian bite-sized snack or dessert foods. Since there are no Youtube tutorials available on making these, I had to study the pictures of the kueh I have collected from the Internet. I used sand paper for the texturing of the kueh.

The final result was overall still acceptable. Though this is my first attempt, but I am more than satisfied to see my end results. How do you think?

Miniature Steamboat

The second course I went for is miniature steamboat. Steamboat refers to several East Asian varieties of stew, consisting of a simmering metal pot of stock at the center of the dining table. While the hot pot is kept simmering, ingredients are placed into the pot and are cooked at the table. Typical steamboat dishes include leaf vegetables, mushrooms, prawns, meat, fishcakes, fishballs, artificial crab meat, ham, corns, carrots ... Vegetables, fish and meat should be fresh. The cooked food is usually eaten with a dipping sauce. In many areas, steamboat are often eaten in the winter to keep our bodies warm.

This set of steamboat is what I have learnt in my course. This course took slightly longer times. It was divided into 2 sessions about 3.5 hours per session.

Lettuce, mushrooms & abalone

After I made my first set of miniature steamboat. I tried to make another set using my teacher's technique combine with my own technique. The 'burnt' texture of the mushrooms was made using a blow torch. Whereas the abalone is made using a rivet.

Raw ingredients needed for steamboat

Once I have completed making all my raw ingredients, the next stage will be the FUN part. Arranging these ingredients to the metal pot. This second set of steamboat is slightly different from the first set. The corns and broccoli are made differently from what my teacher have taught me. Also I have included in sausages in this set. However, I think I have put too much ingredients into the pot. Overflowing with too much food....Result of my greediness...

Final Result

Miniature Sushi

Time flies... It has been almost a year I moved back to Singapore. And also a year that I have not updated my blog. Sorry for the long delay in updating. During this 1 year, I have been trying out many stuffs. I even went for a few short clay courses.

Miniature Sushi
This is the first clay course I went for. This course took me 4 hours to complete. I learnt how to make salmon, maguro, tamago, ebi, ramen, nori, tempura, miso soup and... It was really fun and interesting!! To get the colour right is important for making food.

The way you display the sushi also plays a very important role. It will look better with the right bowls or trays.
