Small Small World

Still I am working on mini cakes this time...Personally I am a cake lover. For these past 2 weeks plus, I have made 36 miniature cakes, 7 gingerbread houses, 3 trays of mini donuts and 2 French macaroons X'mas trees....This is my FIRST attempt in making gingerbread house. Still not that good I know. But I believe with more practise, I can do better next time... Hehe......( I hope so)....

I really enjoyed the process of making paper clay stuffs. I feel so relaxed and stress free when I am making the things I love doing. I love to listen to music and crafting at the same time. You should try it too....

My latest works

Each mini cakes measures ard 2 - 2.5 cm

Since X'mas is round the corner, I have decided to make some gingerbread house to create the atmosphere...Though may still look not that good, I will try harder the next time...I have studied many pictures of real gingerbread house on the Net and research many tutorials on Youtube.... Looks pretty easy to make from the Net, but when you really start to do it. It is a totally different story...Well, at least I did tried.

For my gingerbread house, I had made doors and windows out from chocolates and biscuits. And rooftops covered with fruits, biscuits, gingerbread man, chocolate and small red cherries...It takes a longer time to complete one gingerbread house compared to a cake. Or perhaps I am still new in making gingerbread house.

Each of my gingerbread house measures around 2.5 cm to 3 cm.

One of my favourite food is donuts....But it is difficult to find donuts in Hong Kong. I have not eaten any donuts since a long time ago.. I missed the taste of it. Yummy yummy.... It is so fun to decorate the donuts...As these donuts are very tiny, it takes a lot of patience to decorate and add the candy sprinklers or even draw the strips on it. For the strips and polka dots, I used a toothpick. A small hint for my viewers. To make more realistic donuts, use a lighter beige colour clay to make the shape of the donuts. Then brush on some brownish colour soft chalk pastels to it. Will give a better effect.

That's all for this time... This will be my last post for this year. Sorry to all my viewers out there. Coz in a few days time, my son will be going back with me to my home country for the Christmas holidays for 3 weeks. So my workshop will be closed for the mean time. But will start soon once I come back from my holidays. Hereby, I wish to all my viewers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance.....May the year ahead be filled with lots of happiness, wealth and health to all of us!!!!!Happy Crafting ........

My Mini World of Cakes

After making figurines for these past a month, I would like to try to make some miniature cakes this time. I used to make cakes before. However, my cakes last time were much more bigger as compared to this time. My mini cakes this time measures 2 to 2.5 cm and comes in strawberry, chocolate, peppermint, coffee, mango and mixed fruits flavour. Also I have made tiny french macaroon, doughnuts, bears and babies as the cake topper. Even the dollies of the cakes are also made by clay. I used mold to make the dollies..

My Mini Cakes

All these cakes are based on my ideas and some are based on the real cakes from the Net...For the past two weeks, I have made a total of around 50 miniature cakes. Below is a pic of my mini cakes on a piece of A4 size polka dotted paper.

NEW Figurines (Pt 2)

Here comes the second part of my NEW figurines... Ready guys....

Happy Halloween guys...This witch is made for the coming Halloween Day. However, this post was a bit too late I guess. Sorry....This witch is sitting on a piece of wooden log and holding her magical broom. Exhausted from flying, she is taking a short break...haha....

Babies in animals suit
These babies are custom made for my dear sister-in-law as presents. At first, I only did the baby in the cow suit and posted it onto my facebook. And my sister-in-law saw this picture. She love my baby cow. That's why she requested me to make baby rat, sheep, dog, pig and rabbit. It was pretty simple. And I am pretty satisfied with the end result. How do you think?

The Clown
This clown is slightly different as compared to the clown that I had made in the previous post. Two different colour of clay can really make the clown costume stand out. I myself was shocked too. Ummm...

Exactly the same as the clown above but only different in the colour. And add a bit of glitters on the collar only. Makes it look better....

NEW version of the Clowns

This is the first time that I had made a figurine in this posture (laid down). Of course, I had learnt all these from the books and clay magazines. Just the checkered prints on the dress, shorts and the socks took me a long time. But thanks god. I finally made it.... Still not that bad I hope..

Have you ever heard of the story Little Red Riding Hood when you were small. This is Little Red Riding RAT with a protruding big tummy!!! haha.....Well, time to say bye bye from now... It's pretty late now... Almost 4 o'clock in the morning in HK...Gotta go and grab my beauty sleep soon. Have a nice weekend with your loved ones......

Updates on my Figurines

Hi there.... It's time for me to post my NEW updates again.. Hope my latest works is not too disappointing...  Thanks for your support and viewing my blog. I really appreciate it so much. Whenever I see somebody checking out my blog, youtube or facebook, I am so HAPPY!! It motivates me to make more better and beautiful crafts.

The Bridegroom & the Chef
Maybe you might be wondering why I only made the bridegroom. And where is the bride? I did tried to make the bride but failed to make the white wedding gown. After several failed attempts, I gave up temporary. However, I will definitely try to make the bride again. As for the chef, it is much more easier to make than the bridegroom except for the chef hat. The turkey that he is holding was made long time ago.

I realised that the hairs on the figurine need not be just brown or yellow colour only. Different hair colour will give a different feeling to the figurine. Here on the picture on the left, I have made a small girl in a jumpsuit and two flower fairies. Adding a bit of glittering stuff only on the wings and the small flower on the hat of the flower fairies will give a fantasy like feeling. I have learnt this from experience. In the past, I would put glittering stuff all over the figurines except the face, hands and legs. It seems awkward. A bit of glitters at the perfect spot of the figurines is more than enough.

Bedtime
This took me half a day to complete. The bed frame this time is made wrapping a thin film of paper clay onto a cut out polystyrene board. In my previous experience, I realised that without the polystyrene board, the clay tends to bend after dry. Also, you can cut down the amount of clay used. The eyes of the boy is made in a totally different way too. Sleepy eyes. Nite nite...... Zzzzzzz....

Puppy clinging onto a pile of towels
Among all my recent works, my favourite piece is this small puppy and the bedtime boy. For this, you will have to make the towels first and stack them together before you start on the puppy. Make texture on the towels by using a toothbrush to give it a more realistic look. Checkered, striped, plain colour and polka dot towels will create a cheerful figurine. Also dun forget to add texture to the puppy. So it will not look plain.

NEWLY made figurines (Pt 2)

Do not worry.. These are purposely made this way. Already completed. But only the head without the body. My husband commented that this look scary. Haha....There will be more of these that I will be making in the near future. I still have a lot of ideas in my mind. Will definitely post it in my blog later after I have completed it.

Ballerina

This little ballerina doll's skirt is made of laces instead of the paper clay. The laces make the doll feel more delicate and soft like feeling. I used to make the skirts in my previous blog post using paper clay. However, before you glue the lace skirt to the figurine. You have to sew the laces into pleated first.

This doll took me a lot of time to complete especially on the hair part. I almost lost my patience in braiding the hair. Coz sometimes the clay dries too fast if you are slow in making. Then cracks will appear on it. I am of course not asking for perfections. But I hope my creations have no cracks. Some cracks can still be recovered by smothering it out with some water.

NEWLY made figurines

Sorry for the late updates on my blog..... I had been busy when my mum pops over for a 2 weeks visit. Had to bring her around and take care of my mum. After she went back, I rested for another 2 weeks. My so-called workshop was closed for almost a month. During this resting period, I have been studying up on new techniques and ideas from clay making books. And Bingo!!! I think I almost got it....

The Santa boy below is one of my new ideas... This time, I have made some slight changes to the eyes and the face part. Instead of just using beads for the eyes part, I made 2 holes and fill it with some black paint. Ummm.... Pretty hard to describe I guess.. If you really follow my blog from the beginning. You should be able to see the difference  between the dolls I made initially ( my previous post dated May 4 ) and the dolls I made now. The next thing I would like to improve will be the hands and legs part...Might take a longer time...hehe.....

Santa boy in Santa boot

The three babies

These three babies are also my new ideas.. One is holding a lollipop while the other is holding a milk bottle. Both are wearing a slightly different designed baby hat. I have also made some slight changes to the eyes this time. I have realised that how you draw the eyes of the dolls can make a big  difference on the dolls. Different eye expressions can show different characteristics in the doll.

Halloween specials
This Halloween boy looks pretty easy to make. But I actually spent a lot of time to make the pumpkin expressions. To make the pumpkin look more real, I brushed some dark brown chalk pastels to it.

Clowning around???

These two clowns are my very first attempt. Clowns balancing on a glittering ball. The eyes of the clown is more exaggerated. And the mouth is also painted on using a very fine brush
